First .22 Rifle. help.

I do not know what that is. Google has failed me. :(

EDIT: found it. :) Does it make that much of a sound difference?

Unfortunately I havent tried it yet, I'm taking the Ruger, SKS and CZ-858 out today, maybe I'll take the Savage tomorrow and let you know. Every review I can find say it does a good job redirecting muzzle blast down range, especially for those standing beside the shooter. It can also improve groupings by evenly evacuating gases around the bullet, helping lower quality ammo shoot tighter groups IIRC. $350 isnt too bad of a price, even if you bought online, the shipping charges would put you in that range.

Yup, it comes with the rail and O/S bolt handle, its hard to see in the pic but the barrel is also fluted and threaded 1/2"x28 for standard AR-15 muzzle devices. Mine now wears a Dlask re-worked LeVang comp and a Tac Pro cheek riser. You wont be dissapointed

Supernova,

You have a Savage Mark II FV-SR with the Dlask re-worked LeVang comp on the barrel? Do you mind posting a pic?

I thought of mounting the same comp on my Mark II TRR-SR until I read that the Dlask unit has an outside diameter of .920 and my barrel is about .80. I installed Dlasks XB3 instead.

i got my fv-sr from Epps about a month ago. i had to special order it in. it took a couple of months to come in. Have not decided what scope i will put on it yet.

How much did it end up costing you?
Wolverine Supplies in Manitoba has it for $290 but with shipping it'll prolly be back at $350. :(
I'll call them regardless.

Ill grab a pic tomorrow, its slightly larger than the barrel so it looks a little off. Needs to be fitted too as the wrench slots are off a bit. I figured a muzzle device is nearly useless on a rimfire so one that helps accuracy and doesnt kick up dust shooting prone fit the bill. ATRS sells the original DPMS Levang comp but Im not sure what the diameter is, IIRC its only 40 bucks.

Looking forward to the pic. A crush washer might help with lining up the wrench slots. The original LeVang comp is about an 2.125" long and .971" in diameter compared to 2" long and .920" diameter for the modified Dlask unit.

The XB3 from Dlask to me looks better than the thread protector from Savage, other than looks it is pretty much useless on a .22. Especially a .22LR with a 22" barrel:p. I might reconsider Dlasks modified LeVang comp if it doesn't look too out of place. I would prefer it to the XB3.

Grabbed a few pics yesterday TFunfer, a little later than I had hoped but its been breezy the past few days.

And before anyone asks...the Leupold is a knock-off...the glass is despicable but everything else is surprisingly decent.

Supernova,
Thanks for the pics. It looks like a mini suppressor :)

I have one on order for my SR-22 but I may try it on my TRR-SR first when it arrives.

Cheers.

Supernova, that is a beut. :)

My upgrades are going to be in the is order.
1. SS Evolution Boyds Purple (no Tacticool for me. personal preference) ;P
2. Bipod
3. Reworked LeVang compensator
4. dunno yet. :D

gotloveforall, you will need to purchase a few bottom metal pieces for your Boyd's stock, theyre inletted for parts that the FV-SR does not come with. The trigger guard is part of the plastic stock, you will need to buy a few pieces like that from savage. The Levang will have to be tested a little more with diff. ammo's to see what accuracy improvements it makes. I shot one nice cloverleaf 5 shot group @ 50m that really surprised me, some nice 1" groups and then most every group had 1 or more flyer, always vertical. There was a small piece of something stuck in the levang that may have caused this, or it could have been my cheekweld. I'm not sure if it reduced the muzzle report much, but its a 5.56mm device on a .22lr so no surprise there.

Thanks for the reply. :)
Keep us posted on the Levang!
