I`m all stocked up on .22 LR...mostly CCI MMags plus others.

So now I decide to buy a .22WMR and there`s #### all for ammo around here (Winnipeg)

Went to WSS and bought a box of Federal (it`s all they had ,but on sale)

So then I drove to Cabelas.....NOTHING !

Drove to my local C-Tire....Nothing !

What`s up with that ? Is .22 WMR that popular now ?

I suppose there`s no big rush, as I`m waiting for the rifle to get here ,but I just wanted to start stocking up bit by bit.

might just not be popular enough in your neck of the woods for them to stock it. I see it regularly here in Yellowknife, but I know lots of SAA type guns at the range with the .22WMR cylinder in them to spice it up a bit. There is a need, so they stock it. Plus lots of trappers like it.

give heights archery a call maybe get lucky there, I know Dominion outdoors had some in stock but its been 2 weeks since i was there
went to Dominion outdoors this afternoon, lots of CCI maxi-mag in stock and tnt stuff aswell

Lots of WMR around these parts but hard to find anything under $20/box. I liked the 30grn CCI which was $13.99 before the last panic. Sits at over $25 these days. Might as well just buy something like a .22 Hornet and load my own.

I can't find any 22lr at local CT's and Walmarts but they always got some 22Wmr,

Guess it's all about your area, order online from one of the sponsors and stock up when it's cheap to also get free shipping

you may want to hold off on buying 22wmr ammo indiscriminately.

Some of the rifles can be extremely brand fussy. I have been a fan of the 22wmr for a lot of years. I bought and sold several of the so chambered rifles just because they were fussy. I finally ended up keeping a CZ. Why??? because it has a tight bore. It shoots darn near anything I have been able to accumulate. Very few LGS and even fewer big box stores have a decent selection of 22wmr. Grouse River in Kelowna might the the big exception to the norm.

Most of the Savage offerings actually shoot most brands well.

Some rifles actually prefer plated lead or even lead bullets to jacketed. Some are the other way around.

If you are lucky, your new rifle will shoot just about everything well. If not, try the cast bullets rather than the jacketed styles. The cast bullets are usually larger in diameter and fill the grooves properly for good accuracy.

Hope your rifle is one of those jewels that just digests everything well.

I had to glass bed my CZ and open the barrel channel to get it to shoot consistently. A trigger spring kit may help as well. So far, it's deadly on Rocky Mtn Snowshoe Hares out past 125m.

Good luck to you

Indeed ,that was my intent ,to buy several brands and as many, then shoot and see.

This rifle will only be a nice plinking gun ,nothing more and really to see what a .22 WMR can do, a rifle to have fun with really and to enjoy .

Seeing as I shoot .22 LR ,.17 HM2 ,17HMR ,17 Rem Fireball ,17 Hornet ,17 WSM, 22Hornet and GAWD most .22 cals. the .22 mag just seems like fun to shoot (and cheaper than most lol)

I have ordered online and picked them up at the store a few times.

Well until I receive my rifle in the mail and good weather to shoot ,I want to purchase small batches of as many brands as I can before loading up.

Lot`s of .22LR...like lots of many brands ,that I got LOL

I managed to get a box of CCI mini mag HP-Vs from a local shop (totally forgot about them and I don`t know why, as I`ve bought several of my handguns from them)

At least it`s another option for ammo purchases.

Have you asked your local gun stores if they can bring in a brick for you?
I see it from time to time, but do not own one as of now to be overly concerned with it.
Rob

Before I commit to a brick of this stuff ,I`ll try different manufacs. and see what she likes to shoot best.

But yah ,if I find it likes a particular brand best, for sure I would look into a brick.I`ve always had good results with CCI brand ,never tried Federal rim fire and Winchester....mehhh.

Been trying to score some CCI .22 LR Stinger ,not much luck these days...comes in and flies off the shelves I think.

Canadian Tire sells these. Our stores in the Windsor area have a pretty good selection of rimfire including hmr, wsm and wmr.
