First 9mm

I do have a line on a SIG P320 local to me for $525, it doesn’t have the trigger recall upgrade but I don’t think that is a big deal right? Probably the best bang for my buck?

It wasn't just the Free trigger upgrade, there was a replacement slide and a new disconnector due to the Voluntary Recall issued by Sig due to the pistol not being drop safe. If it were me I'd get it upgraded either before the sale or ensure Sig will do it after the owner transfers it to you.

I purchased my first 9mm pistol in November, and I settled on the glock 17C gen 4. I liked the way it felt in my hand, and I also like the fact that the gun was well suited for most 9mm ammo without concerns. I have taken it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. It's construction is super simple, which was important to me as someone new to pistols in general. I have since bought the glock 34 gen 5 because it appears to fit what I believe is my future requirements. If you're anything like me, your taste and requirements will change over time. Next on the wishlist is the CZ Shadow, my dilemma there is whether to go with the shadow 1 or 2.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go to a range and rent various different pistol platforms and shoot a few rounds thru them. You may love the looks of one, but realize u have a harder time shooting it effectively compared to another model!

My first handgun was a Glock G34 mos. I was totally new to handguns, knew i wanted a 9mm and something that i could use for 3 gun. I knew that the Glocks have a good service history, are popular, common and that i liked the looks of them. So i bought one.

Took a lot of practice for me to get "OK" at shooting it. I even slapped a red dot on it to so id have less trouble pointing it accurately.

Then one day i went to an indoor range with a buddy, we rented a 1911, a Beretta 92 and a CZ shadow. I noticed right away that all of those guns fit my hands better, i could manipulate their triggers better, i found their sights better and i ultimately shoot all 3 of them noticeably better then i did with my Glock.

Sold the Glock at a loss and bought a CZ Shadow... no regrets since.

Not bashing Glocks here, i know there are people out there that prefer Glocks and are proficient at shooting them.

Are there any big differences between the S&W M&P gen 1 and 2 in terms of performance? I know they added a few bells and whistles but other than that is there much difference? If I can get a gen 1 range kit for $150 less than the gen 2 which would be the better value?

The major difference is the stippling on the grip panels and I believe there is a metal insert in the slide of the 2.0 if I'm not mistaken, I'm sure there are a few other minor changes, more scalloping on the 2.0 slide etc, but as far as accuracy goes they are no different, I've shot both and don't find any difference shooting them other than the 2.0 is easier to grip due to the stippling. If you are only getting the one handgun I personally would buy the 2.0 simply because I think they look a bit better, if you are planning on getting more handguns down the road grab the original and spend the saved money on ammo :)

Woah!! Nice price on that. I’ll take a look at them

Looks like it is out of stock and I can’t find it on their main site

Tenda has the FN509 for $470 and FNS-9 for $480. Might pick one of these up, they look really nice

I was just going to mention a Jericho 941, a very nice clone of the CZ75. I have an early surplus, steel framed, Jericho 941F, I love it. Some of the used range kitted Jerichos are now in your price range. It’s nice to have a couple of extra magazines.

This is an exciting time. Can't really go wrong with any of your choices, comes down to what you find the coolest. Go to a well stocked store and handle them. They'll be happy to help.

Edit: You've chosen!!, congrats, nice pistol, was gonna mention canik elite combat as well. Good prices on the Caniks.

If it helps any with suggestions I’ve owned a Norinco 1911 in .45 ACP before. It fit my hand well, just wanted 9mm over .45 ACP to get better at fundamentals. I was also looking for something a little nicer and smoother to shoot.

I am quite fond of the looks of the P320 as well and I guess it’s hard to go wrong with a gun that the US military chose but it is also near the top of my budget.

If the Norinco 1911 fits you well, then you're probably going to find both the Beretta and the Girsan Regard a little on the chunky side. I have all 3 in my safe, and the 1911 is too small for my hands because I have large palms. It basically lives in the safe. As for the Beretta and the Girsan, I prefer the Girsan. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the Beretta, but the Girsan has NO plastic pieces and has slightly slimmer grips which make it more comfortable for me. The machined surfaces of the Girsan are top notch and the slide feels slick and glassy. In comparison, I have an older CZ 75 pre B and the machined surfaces are nowhere near as nice as the Girsan. The CZ is a nice gun, and I'm sure newer ones are a bit nicer, but people have pre-conceived ideas about a company like Girsan because they are Turkish, fairly new to the market, and VERY reasonably priced. But rest assured, they produce an extremely well made firearm that punches well above it's weight.

Maybe Ill hold off till I find a good price on a P320. I love SIG P226, shot one at a range once and liked it, but they are a little steeply priced for my taste

Pick up a Norinco NP22 off the EE for like $300.. it's a great gun, direct copy of the P226! Mine has shot flawless.
