Well Gents, I've just got back tonight from what has been a lifelong dream of mine! With the exception of dangerous game not being on the menu, it was everything I could have hoped for. It's late and I'm tired, but I just have to get a few pictures up. This is the first day, or to be more accurate, the first day before dinner. ;) Bushbuck, jackal,Waterbuck and Gemsbuck. I slowed down a little after that, in the interest of not having to sell my house to pay the trophy fees, but ended up with 10 animals. I think:D

Yah, the .375 didn't bounce off that "sorta yote" either. :D In the end it was the only rifle I used for everything. I'm rethinking using the "popguns" for anything anymore.:D

Did you get a KUDU in the end ?

Any record book head's ?

UM

Ultramag,
The Kudu was next. I believe the Bushbuck would make both books, but that just doesn't seem to be very important somehow. The Waterbuck is considered very good at about 30 inches. All my trophies are tied for 1st place in my personal book.:D I took a second impala and Gemsbuck, the latter because the picture in my head must have been a female the whole time. The females have longer, skinnier horns.

very nice.

how were the logistics of getting there? what route did you take there?

going again?

Gibbs505,
I took a Tikka T3 in .300 Win Mag with 180 Partitions which only got fired to check the sighting. The rifle that did all the shooting was a CZ 550 Magnum in .375 H&H with 270 TSXs. Once the 3 PHs found out that I had an H&H that I wasn't scared of it's all they wanted me to use. I'm beginning to think that they are right, at least for their own conditions. I'm sure that the "Rhino rifle" carried the day for me when shooting at little pieces of animals through the brush. Nothing got torn up either. My shots varied from 30 to 300 yards.

We went through Frankfurt, Germany with no problems. Another party went through London and had nothing but trouble. Don't even think about flying through the States.

Going again? Hell, part of me never left!:D

I just got back as well.
The travel agent dragged his feet, then put us on North West through the States to Amsterdam. Not impossible to get a gun through the US in transit, but applying for forms takes time, and I was out of time so decided to use the PH's rifle. Next time I'll take my own!!

What country did you hunt, and on what type of licence?

Great Kudu by the way, next time we go I'm going to put plains game ahead of the buff.

That is great DL, I think that it shows what the PH's think of the 375 H&H!

You obviously did good shooting there!!:D

Nice framing btw!:D:D:D

Boomer,
We, (My wife and I) were in South Africa. The hunting areas were from Thabazimbi to the Limpopo River bordering Botswana. Buffalo has always topped my list of things to do, but I wanted to get my feet wet with plains-game first. Tanzania seems like a good option for the buff, but there are still some antelope that I want that are better got in RSA. There's just no way around it, this is going to take a few more trips back.:D
I read your thread, sounds like a great time. My turn will come someday.

Dogleg there's nothing wrong with that Kudu I bet it would have had way more inches if the horns had a deeper curl but length wise there's nothing wrong with that bull!
The Impala is a good one too so is the Waterbok!
Hope you didn't try to eat the waterbok when you were there!

Ultramag,
I did some checking and the Bushbuck will make both books, the Waterbuck will make RW, and the Gemsbuck missed by an inch. The Impalas will be close but I don't remember the numbers anymore. I won't be listing anything, anyway.
