First and last shotgun

Mike:You might try Gagnon's in Oshawa.Don't know what they have in new.But I was there yesterday and they had some used Rem 1100s and some used Beretta 391s.They did have a new Browning Gold and a Winchester semi.I picked up a used Beretta 391 at what I thought was a very reasonable price.Williams arms in Port Perry have some semi's listed on their website. They are great people to deal with as well.
Cheers Bac4

Anyway if someone could give me an idea of what to look for in versatile and quality shotgun (and tell me honestly if I’m asking too much of a gun for that matter) I’d be grateful .

Like another poster here, I got an 870 Super Mag on the grounds that I'd never need another shotgun.

Need is one thing, but "buy because damn-what-a-nice-gun-this-is" is another question.

I doubt you could go wrong with any of the recommendations here :).

I'm still going to have to put a few rounds through each of em, but after careful research I’m quite fond of the extremaII. Also it somehow feels less ridged and lighter (though it's not) than the benelli SBEII which is my second choice. I'm not concerned as much with recoil as i am reliability and low maintenance. I love that feeling when the gun kicks anyway. Makes me feel like a tough guy!
I'm coming into a busy work month or 2 starting monday so i'm going to wait till that's over before going and buying anything. (It'll be easier to let go of the money too)
In the mean time i'm keeping my eyes open for a good used deal in any of the Remington 11-87s---Benelli SBE---Beretta 391---etc. If i can get a good used one in camo for cheap, maybe i can pick up a 9mm toy with the leftovers.:)
Big Red has invited me back up to fire a few rounds outa these guns so i can have a good idea of what to expect when i get one home. Thanks again BR.

Here's a video of the shotgun i really wanted but everyone says it's got too much recoil for the average person. I wouldn't really need that 3rd shot with it either!http://www.break.com/index/biggest_shotgun_in_the_world.html

Choices

Hi new to the site as well don't usually reply just read & soak up all the information. But on buying one shotgun my choice would be Browning or Remmington i had a sbe#11 to hard to get parts for:)

Personally, with a budget of 1600 bucks, I would pick up a Remington 870 slug gun for your deer, and a Beretta 391 for everything else. Lots of nice examples of both on the EE all the time.

The Beretta gives you a lot of versatility for ducks and clay games, and you still have the 870 as a back up for whatever.... and you can get extra barrels and other accessories easily for the 870.

Hello,
Semi-auto for duck hunting? right....shoot the duck once miss him he flies even further away and shoot again then the pellets will spread out and miss him again...need a side by side shotgun because the two barrels have different chokes...Europeens laught at ppl with semi-auto shotties that go duck hunting.

Good-night.
