I had the biggest #### eating grin on my face, as I was walking through the post office going to pick up my brand new Colt Canada IUR rifle, complete with CC CF charging handle, and the so esteemed CC F/A BCG.

BCG's still in the bag, didn't have time today to properly clean/lube it. At first I thought they forgot the BCG, then realized it wasn't inside the rifle but still in bubble wrap inside the box.

Then thought I'd try out some optics, first started up with an EOtech 552 that I already have an RMA for. But what the heck, why not try it out first.

Not bad, but now for the big boy! Everything's made in Canada, the rifle, the rings, and of course the scope.

And the rollmarks IUR upper/lower.

I cannot wait to take this baby out, should be a damn good time. I'll probably try out the TT on it first, just for kicks. I really need to get some 30 round magazines, the LAR-10's looking really really tiny.
I'm not too thrilled about the colour difference between lower and upper, but I guess I can live with it. The upper is seriously mint, not a single mark on it. I made more marks messing around with the eotech, than it came with.

X high, there is about 2mm between the objective and rail. It's the 5-25 milrad turrets, gen2xr. Absolutely love the scope, about 11 days got lucky on the EE. Another members loss was my gain. He seems to be in a rough patch, selling all his high end gear. I scooped it up within 20 minutes of it being listed. Had to drive ~800 km round trip last weekend but so worth it!

What the heck should I be doing before firing? It's very very oily, I prefer running my guns dry as possible with grease instead of oil.. I'm assuming some parts require oil?

Detail strip and clean the whole thing off very well.

In my experience ARs like to run wet. I use moly grease on my M305, but my ARs run best with light lube such as MPro7 or G96.

There are tons of good YouTube vids on this.

Run it wet my friend !! I would clean the whole thing, completely strip it down, which is super easy to do and then re oil it fresh with your choice of oil, generic CLP is totally fine. As you like to run your guns dry, oil it until you think there is too much oil......and then put a bit more oil on the BCG. :)

Never heard or seen that scope!...800kms....I have to ask before I Google myself to death all night...but how much was it....is it for long range or AR short range.

Retail is 5400, and about 6-12 month wait. I paid less than that and had to wait less than 2 weeks.

I bought it for my LR boltgun, but it currently has a sb on it. I figured I'd throw it on the ar and see how it performs.

Tangent Theta tt525p with gen2xr reticle is the model.

This has to be the only time I was happy getting a brand new gun that had a FILTHY bore.... So they did test fire my rifle, there was a bunch of red stained fouling coming out with just G96. Took about 20 patches and 1 VFG felt, and 1 VFG brush (felt w/ brass) to get patches coming out clean.
I can't believe how much I hate the CF charging handle, cannot stand it at all for left handed use.

Question, I put in some snap caps started cycling action... The caps have a firing pin indent in them, and I didn't even pull the trigger?!?
How is that even possible? Is this rifle even safe to fire as-is? Would this be a slam fire waiting to happen?

The AR15 uses a free floating firing pin. They all do. It has since the 1950s without issue. Every round that chambers will have a tiny dimple. It's fine.
