First AR-15 Finally Arrived!!

The AR15 uses a free floating firing pin. They all do. It has since the 1950s without issue. Every round that chambers will have a tiny dimple. It's fine.

Haha I googled it right after, makes me feel better.. and maybe I will be getting a Ti pin in near future.

On the handle, I'm not happy to use it, but I also wouldn't be happy to get rid of it. I'll probably keep the original parts, but upgrade. First on list is the grip, I don't like the a2 grip that much either.. maybe a stock, but right now it's working pretty well.

I did get some magpul PMAGS gen m2, they were fitting extremely tight. Little bit of comparison with lar-15, was obvious that the magazine was too long. About 2 minutes with a flat bastard file and done. Also filed down the rivets so they didn’t keep Marr up the mag well... but it already scratched the trigger guard and magwell. They are dropping free now, can't complain for 19$ no window black 5/30 rounders.

...It's very very oily, I prefer running my guns dry as possible with grease instead of oil.. I'm assuming some parts require oil?
Good, keep it that way. You need to wrap your head around that. You can lightly grease the rails on the BCG, but you want oil everywhere dripping. This is a DI gun and the more oil floating around helps self clean itself. There's a reason why the BCG has three vent holes. Fill 'er up :)

Think of the old lathes and milling machines in the past. They used a lot of oil. It was messy because the machines dripped out the crud and dirt too. Made sense then, still does today and those machines are still be used by hobbyists today.

Oh man I've followed the manual to a tee
. My bcg is dripping in g96. I mean dripping. I have to wipe off some oil from the bolt though. I didn't leave rear of rings dry.

I was wearing gloves that had to be changed after re-installing the bolt/bcg into the rifle, due to too much oil. The rag wasn't cutting it. I'm a little worried about shooting it left handed and getting a face full of gas and g96.

Well, the 25x scope is WAY too much for an AR. I could barely keep it steady using a front sandbag and rear bag on 25x. The highest mag I could use was about 14x, then it was over for the 300 yard gong 10/10 shots from prone w/ front sand bag.

Tried without any support, just monopodding with the magazine. I had a 8" group at 100m rapid firing, just barely lining up the scope and pulling the trigger. Didn't bother shooting a proper group after that, didn't want to waste more ammo.

First actual 5 round group with rear/front bags was about 1.5" at 100m, three were touching other two were about 1/2" either side.

Not sure what way I want to go, as Im planning on doing some CQB coming up in feb. So for right now the eotech I bought to return for refund, will be my primary optic.

In the lower mainland make sure its dripping wet, we dont have sub zero temps here so no worries about your lube freezing.
Dont over think it too much, its a colt, its made for serious work, itll be fine.
I dont run more than 10x optics on my ARs and thats on my mark12
On my cc iur i run an elcan specter dr, perfect for close and far (ish)
Dont change anything on the bcg including the firing pin unless something stops working and thats usually around 5000-6000 rounds. Its a colt bcg, one of the best bcg on the panet, dont mess around with it.

Its been about a month, and 940 rounds later not a single issue! I have since changed out the charging handle to a noveske branded raptor and dropped in a geissele automatics hi-speed national match - Service Rifle. I am still yet to get a proper optic for it, I've just been running the Eotech.

I've been able to get like 1.5-2 MOA on a bench w/ eotech at 100m, using aguila ammo and a front sandbag. From standing unsupported, its more like 3-8 moa at 100m mostly towards 8.

They're stupidly accurate. I just sighted mine in and ended up with a ragged hole at 50yds with only two fliers in each 10rd grouping.

Yep, I have to stop being so lazy and order up some 77gr SMK's and get a load worked up.

If I can get 1.5" groups with factory almost surplus ammo, handloads would be AMAZING! Oh and a bipod as well, I kinda want to make the 1 MOA challenge on here.

I was thinking of giving it a whirl too, but I need some serious trigger time before I think I'll make it on the board.
