Hey guys,

I'm looking into picking up an AR here sometime and trying to decide on the best option. I'm looking for the best bang for my buck but I have some features I would strongly prefer. Which are:

Flat top
No front sight post
A handguard with at least a top rail
Included BUIS would be a bonus

After that I just want the most reliable for my money.

If I had a higher budget I would absolutely buy a DDm4 v7 that is the exact style and feel I like, but I would like to try to spend less if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've considered the Ruger sr556 line as well, and there are some Boxing Day sales out there that make the price attractive.

If anyone knows of some other sales on right now pass the info on !

Thanks

I would buy this. :)

I have a Windham and it is great. I would love a DD but didn't want to spend the extra since it AR's are range only. I have no regrets with the Windham and would buy it again.

The good thing is, if you ever want to upgrade from low or mid tier, just sell it and get a higher tier AR. Keep all you accessories, just change chassis. Get good mags, accessories, and good optics right from the start and use them with whatever direction you go.

I went to a few LGS's over the past week and took a look at some options. I don't think I can settle for anything other than the DD v7 or the Troy Northern Guard. Both of those have exactly what I want, look amazing, and have the exact feel and balance I like. I am especially impressed with the Troy, the fore end is perfect size, I love the flip up sights, and the finish seems a touch better than the DD at first glance.

I'm going to do a bit more research before anything, including looking into a custom build, but I foresee myself with one of those two rifles.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm a cheaper guy.

Where do you lot stand on the S&W M&P? P&D (geez, that's a lot of ampersands all of a sudden) have it for only slightly more than a Norinco. Kinda stripped down, but appears to be a solid gun...

I have dad several AR's. I've now stuck with 2 my DD and my Ruger. For the money I would go Ruger if you don't mind piston (I love it) or SIG if you want DI.

Just my 2 cents.

I have looked at the mp15 sporter. It is a definite consideration for the price. But it is missing some of the features I really like. And the lack of dust cover or forward assist kinda sucks. But I would go that route over other similarity priced options.

Look at the Colt LE6920 Magpul edition it can be had for just over $1300 incl shipping and taxes if you look hard enough!

Thanks T
