First AR

So I bit the bullet and bought my first AR-15, a norinco CQ-A. What are peoples thoughts on this rifle, anything I should know about AR ownership, etc?

Clean it, oil it, shoot it! As much as I'm not a fan of anything Norc, there really is nothing wrong with the gun for casual plinking and rifle matches! Enjoy!

I have one and I love it. Great entry level AR. Sure the fit and finish may not be equal to that of a Diemaco or Daniel Defense but it goes bang every time and lets you get familiar with the platform for a great price.

Thanks all, whats the swappability of parts on it? Tubes, uppers, muzzle devices etc.

Having had a number of AR's and assembled 5 or so uppers, don't be tempted to trick out your cqa.
Just shoot it and spend your cash on ammo.

Bought my first (also a CQ-A) AR recently as well. Love it.

It seems to accept most accessories just fine. The buffer tube, while supposedly comm spec, fits a Comm Magpul stock a little tight, but works. I just installed a phase 5 Extended Bolt Release v2 om mine and it went on fine and works flawlessly.
