First AR

OP, how much money are you looking to spend? What do you want to do with it??

Answer those 2 questions, and we'll be able to give you some good advice.

For sure.

I dropped the ball on the 10.5" upper, so Im scrambling to find one so as not to have to wait till 2013 when Spikes has more in production.

Yeah spikes is swamped with orders so it will be a few months before more come up this way, not to mention last time questar had their rifles they were priced at $1200, this last order where I had bought mine they went up by another hundred. Even at $1300 I still believe its one of the best deals to be had, your mileage may vary however I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of all the components and the accuracy of the rifle. So to the OP, buy the 14.5 from questar before the price jumps up and the vanish for a few months then be happy you did

Heres mine with a friend

well sounds like NEA is not the way to go may be ill look at norinco or questar spider.
can you put the quad rails on the norinco and pull off the handle for a red dot

Just thought I'd point out, Questar is the supplier. The rifle in that link is a Spike's Tactical.

My 2 cents is this: if you want to get into the world of AR's, start with the Norinco. You can find a ton of them on the EE, some with very low round counts and a few extras added like magpul goodies, rails, etc. Probably won't spend more than $700, and from all reports they function beautifully.

If you find that you absolutely love going to the range with it and are ready to step up to a mid-tier AR, you shouldn't have too much trouble flipping it on the EE again and putting that coin towards something like a Spike's Tactical, or (surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet) a Core-15. These will run anywhere from $1200 to $2000.

IMHO, I just don't like having to put that much money into a rifle I can only take to the range. But if it floats your boat, have at 'er!

Good luck with the search! :)
