First AR15? Just too many choices...

By no means am I telling you to do this (because too many people around here do that), but have you tried putting the AFG closer to the muzzle? That way your support arm is almost fully extended and can be locked, giving you faster follow up shots. Anyway just a suggestion, I know that's how I prefer to do it when I shoot AR's. But if that set up works well for you (based on the photo seems to be doing the job) then just ignore my ramblings and enjoy shooting the sh*t out of it.

fyi - tried this today, i didnt move the grip yet though. i found it slightly more stable but it kinda reminded me of when i taught snowboarding.. point with your front knee where you want to go, this case, point with your front hand. it is quicker to jump from 1 target to the other.

and im now hovering around 350 rounds trough the NEA... 2 more range days this week...i hope to hit the 800 round mark before sunday.

This is interesting and looks like about what I want, but I have no idea if they're any good.

I picked one up and could not be more happy although I did spend another $500-$600 on mine...
Very nice finish and the upper and lower are tight, no wobble.

Ran it hard, over 600rds, not one Jam, FTF or FTE, smooth as silk... PMC X-Tac 5.56mm 55gr

I just purchased my first AR. Smith & Wesson M&P 15. Unbeatable at $933 to my door. 1:8 twist, chambered in 5.56, non-pinned flash hider, quality coating, Magpul rear sight included.

It seems to have all the features necessary for a quality paper puncher.

Me as well. Just a good value rifle all around. If I wanted to spend a little more I would get the LE6920. A COLT!!

I have the CORE15 di and could not be happier. The rifle is from Wanstall's. I topped it off with an Aimpoint pro from Dave's surplus. I just ordered a Geissle ssa from arms east.

Well, I saw a VZ58 in 5.56 and had to have it as it's non-restricted so I can shoot it much closer to home. That will tide me over while I keep researching ARs. Lots of recommendations coming, that for that all. I need to do a lot more reading though.

I love my Rock River Arms AR15...Great rifle that comes with a 2 stage match trigger from factory.....Also DEA issues RRA rifles to its Agents..I also have a Spikes AR and it's great as well...

Pilot_dc: Do you have an incredibly expensive car parked in the driveway of your PMQ? Do you have an expensive cocaine habit? Did you not listen to your inbrief and went on to father a football team's worth of illegitimate kids on the reserve nearby? Did you do all three?

If not, open up your budget up to $2000 and buy an AR you will cherish, instead of one you will look at selling in a year or so. Hurry up, the market in the states right now means that whatever is on the shelves right now is likely to be all we will be getting for a bit.
