Nice SP1! How does it shoot?
It shoots quite well, sadly it doesn't see the range time that it should. My 11.5'' Armalite is usually the tag along.

Oftener? I wanna see this girls credentials, is she even trained in how to clean these rifles?
I'm with you. I like the old school look, probably too much "Tour of duty". Two colt versions

Actually, a slabside, SP1-style lower would also be incorrect, it needs a type II or type III lower, depending on whether or not you want to place it early Vietnam or late Vietnam. These have traditionally been hard to find. Down south, Nodak Spud now makes excellent recreations but to my knowledge none have ever been exported.
But this does not affect my question, why use an ambidextrous selector? The receiver you are probably stuck with, and the difference isn't the end of the world, but that selector sticks out like a sore thumb, to me, anyway.
Very nice rifle. You do it justice

It looks to me like your AR-15A2 is a parts gun, with an A2 lower receiver, and an A1 upper with a HBAR barrel screwed into it.

AFAIK it's not possible to put A1 sights onto an A2 upper and vice versa, also your upper doesn't have the case deflector that's standard on A2 uppers.
It's a nice rifle BTW
What markings are on the barrel forward of the front sight (that's where the calibre and barrel twist are marked)?
