First attempt at "gun ####". Pretty vanilla.

Comments/criticisms/etc. all welcome, or not, if you don't care to. There is a bit of a "smudge" mark I left on it from removing the serial number from the photo. Not easily fixable, beyond what I've done.

Very nice! There's nice, even lighting in the picture (which is tough to get right) and the picture is well-focussed and nice and sharp--did you use a tripod? What did you use to get the even lighting?

One thing you might want to try is lightening your final image--I've found that when I use light coloured backgrounds they tend to cause my camera to underexpose. You could manually set your camera to over expose or use your photo editing software. I used Photoshop Elements here:

IMO: I would try getting everything a little closer together so that there is not so much dead space in the photo (especially upper left). Try filling it more with the subject matter. Also think where the lines take the vieweres eye as the barrel and the magazine now naturally take the viewers eye to dead space and off the page.

Good first swing though.

n o-no-no this is no good at all. Mistake is typical for beginners though.

It must have shot cases thrown all around, you know, with black streaks on a brass and punched primers. And there must be a few magazines. Also need some wrinkles on background bedsheet (I didn't know how to call it). Just to imply there was some hard core action very recently :)

Right now there is too much virginity in your picture. Get down and dirty.

^ Looks too soft! F- ! :p for best looking pics use low ISO speed and a tripod.

Steyr M-A1... I had one....still have a shoulder stock I made for it...

btw fix your take down button, should be on "F" ;)

We're getting there... :D
I just ran the image through a noise reduction program and added a little contrast.

Good lord that looks way better. I don't know why the hell I got a noisy photo at 80 ISO, but such is life.

I used a tripod, regular room light, and a long exposure (the flash photos sucked).

Rusty, mind telling me which program you used for the noise reduction? I really need to invest in one of them.

22lr: lol maybe I will next time. Toss in a blood-stained combat knife for good measure too! :D

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Much appreciated.

phatns2pid,

If you really need to invest some money in the noise reduction program, please send me $300.00 (no tax!!!).
Otherwise, you can download the same program (Neat Image) from the web for FREE. :D

It's a little tricky to use the manual settings (which would give you the best quality) but even the automatic settings will work OK.

If you have manual exposure compensation available on your camera, try shots at +1 or +2 EV when photographing against a white background - The camera's auto-exposure tries to make 18% "grey" out of the white, unless you tell it otherwise.

But otherwise, I like it!

One thought I had today--did you take the picture at full size and then reduce the dimensions for posting, or did you take the picture at the size that was posted? I find that all digital photos have some level of noise, and if you take the picture at full size and then reduce the dimensions for posting it reduces the appearance of the noise.
