Thanks to Louthepou for the help and guidance during this effort.

It still needs a few touches (sling swivel and sling) but I am pretty excited about how it has turned out so I thought I would share it with you fellow milsurp enthusiasts.

What I got my hands on was a rough ould truck gun. Fortunately the barrel hadnt been cut and it was for the most part a good shooter in need of a good cleaning and a return to full battle dress.

You know what they say - once you start, you can't stop :)

Way to go Brno, now off to the range! (Well, wait - gotta fix that crack in the butt first, right?)

No worries Lou. The cracked but stock was part of the sporter configuration. The nice new piece of walnut from Springfield Sporters fixed that issue.

I should have labelled the photos better. The pics of the somewhat maroon coloured stock with the added bonus of masking tape marks and the big crack in the butt stock were all before the restoration.

It's a lot more work than a guy would think once you get into it, eh? I know it caught me off guard, but it's true once you do one, you only think about the next one.
Well done.

Looks great! Nice to see it brought back to form.

I am admiring your rifle rest as well as your rifle.
Could you tell me what make the rest is and where you bought it?

Thanks!

It is a Stoney Point rest. I bought it at Russel's 5 or 6 years ago. Their newest model is somewhat different. At the time I got it, price was about $120. Here is a link to the stoney point site.

Salut Pourvoirie,

On a Lee Enfield - only linseed oil should be applied :)

(Huile de lin en français... je trouve la mienne au Canadian Tire)
