First Attempt At Stock Checkering

Like others have requested, please post a couple of pictures after the checkering is oiled.

Ted

We will all await the photos after you do the other side . . .

Not that it would be a waste of time, because I could certainly use the practice, but I really am not going any further with that particular project. I am not even going to oil it. It was just a test run to see if I could handle the tools or if I would flub it up.
If I showed you the rest of that gun, you would want to lynch me. It's a rusty, broken, ugly little thing that I have done all sorts of cruel and unusual things to in the name of science.
It took me a long time to do that one panel, and I think my time could be better put to use on a gun that I can shoot.
First up is going to be my Dad's old Parker Hale. If that turns out half way decent then next I will try one for my wife's Savage.
I'm pretty sure that I'm hooked. This could get costly.

x 2 on the Kennedy book ... if you can't find a copy locally, it may be available from
Brownells. Good lighting, careful layout & tons of patience all go a long way.

Practice on scrap walnut ...easier to "toss" than a stock or forend if you're not happy.

You work out at the "marsh" (Oak Hammock) ?
