First Bear of Spring.

Saw my first blackie today. Dead, on the side of HWY #511 in Lanark county. Isn't it a wee bit early for them to be out yet?

It has been warm, I was into a camp near Ashby lake last weekend and some of the guys were talking about bear being out already. It does seem early but with such a warm winter in these parts I can understand it.

The coat was nice. But it had been run over by one(or more) of the semis hauling calcite to Perth. There was a lot of red mixed in with the black. When these guys get an animal down on the road, usually at night, they pretty much grind it into the pavement.
