First Big Game Rifle Now Complete

Mine was a Sako L61R 30-06 that my Dad gave me (actually, he let me choose one of his rifles) for my 16th birthday. I traded it back to him for his Model 70 Classic 300 WM a few years later. What a dumbass I am. I may have to try to get it from him again.

Nice looking rifle OP - really like the look of the grain. My first bgr was a rem 742 woodsmaster in 30-06. Took my first moose with her - all while jamming the action!

Well now, my first big game rifle to me as a wee lad was an old Winchester 92 44-40.
Top that folks..............Laugh2
I kid you not, it's still here in my possession.

Dare ask what my second was????????

I was given a lee enfield no.1 mk 3 all original, she will be a centurion in a few years.First big game rifle purchase was a cz 550 American 30-06 about 10 yrs. ago.

Don't know if I can top that, but I'll try.
My first Whitetail also fell to a 44-40 but from an 1873 Winchester which I re-acquired last year after a long search.
And I'm not about to let it go again.. ever.

My first CF rifle was the good old Win 94 .30-30. I never did hunt with it though as I traded it straight across for a Rem 788 in .308 before the season started. I hunted with that rifle for 6 years.

Acquired brand spanking new in 1969, my first BGR was a Voere model 2150 in Rem 7mm mag from Wildcat Guns in Edmonton. Up until then I had been a waterfowl and upland hunter. The shop is long gone now, but I still have the 7mm. It got a full refinish about 12 years ago, but doesn't see field trips nearly as frequently as it used to ... course, then neither do I.

Lovely rifle and beauty wood.
My first big ass rifle was a No 1 mk3 sporter I bought at Island Trading in 1970 for $16.oo.
Nuked all sorts of raccoons, squirrels, feral cats, 4 deer, 2 bears one cougar and
too many crows and ravens to count. All with Mk 7 hardpoints.
I had a great supply of that ammo back then. Comes with livin' in an Ammunition Depot.

My first 2 deer fell to my Cooey M39 in Mom's flower bed.
Statute of lims is far gone on them episodes Gamey's! Har-de Har!
Fook me, I miss them days. :)

My first big game rifle was the good ole Lee Enfield 303 given to me by my father ..many moose with it , savage 250-3000 given to me by my mother for deer, her first gun.

Was given a Marlin 336 30-30 on my 16th birthday and it started a whole new obsession for me, only bird hunted until then with my dad.

Here is my first big game rifle, Winchester 94 in 30/30. It was given to me by my father on my 14th birthday. She's got more then a few miles on her, and many more memories.

Beautiful. What a great first rifle that would be to a boy.
Posts like this make me wish my dad had gotten me into the sport.
I'm 28 and have had my pal for only 3 years.

My first, best and only rifle I will ever use for hunting is my Remington 7600 in 30-06. Was made same year I was born, bought it when I was 17 still in the box slopped with factory vaseline thick grease. Killed 8 deer in the first 3 years I had it and at least one every year since;) Will NEVER hunt with any other rifle than this one till the day I die or it's unrepairable! Also killed a bear with it and I can't begin to count how many whistle pigs and beaver it's killed;)
