I was put for the second time this year looking for my first tom, he come out to the cornfield a 150 yards out. I yelped he strutted, dropped his head and ran to the corner of the plowed field 15 yards out, dropped him on the spot. Went out to check him out and another gobble thirty yards in front of us in bush, grabbed tom and threw him behind tree and called again, big boss tom and two jakes come out 100 yards into plowed field. They were wandering away, called again, jakes turned and ran half way and went into bush, one last call jakes came back out and bee lined for the exact same spot Tom did his death dance. my buddy made the shot, he dropped, stood back up and he shot again, jake flew hundred yards up plowed field and dropped in long grass. Walked up and got him, back to our special tree and sat and had a smoke and one more gobble in the bush. It was just the perfect day, we grabbed our birds and left with a smile, we were back to the car by 7 am, me with a memory of first bird on a perfect day. Thanks to Brian for letting the 22 lbs turkey, ten inch beard, 7/8inch spurs, walk past his bead for me to shoot! What a rush calling him in and seeing him rush right to us.
Also for teaching me and letting me call in the birds today. Now the pressure is off we can hunt the big boy at our other property thats been hunted hard by trespassers. I hate them btw
