Glad you could get back on your feet and get out hunting. Looks like you had a good day for it and everyone had a good time.
Also looks like you're grappling with the same problem I'm having this year - the rose bushes are chewing up my Brit's front end. I've considered the dog's vest, like that the one of your dogs is wearing. My concern is that unless it fits perfectly, the straps could wear on the dog or rose branches could get caught under the vest.
I've been using waterproof medical tape to fashion makeshift wrist guards. They work well enough to stop the wear and tear, but they sometimes fall off. They are rugged enough to stay on most of the time, but not so strong that the dog can't rip them off if he wants.
I'd like to hear your thoughts and those of anybody else who hunts with dogs in thorny environments.
