I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way, but when I buy a new hunting rifle I feel that if I don't shoot an animal with it the first season I hunt with it, the rifle is cursed and I will more than likely sell it. So I was very happy yesterday when I got this little eating buck for my parents. The rifle is my Kimber 84L Classic 30/06. I was shooting a 150gr Barnes TTSX handload. The shot was about 150 yards. The deer ran about 25 yards and dropped.

I have had firearms I have that are ten years old and never shot a animal.with it lol. Not for lack of trying

Good job, there's nothing like t-shirt weather during rifle deer season!

I was thinking the same thing; leave it to a fellow Manitoban to notice that! :) I remember living in Ontario and wishing for colder weather while deer hunting. Not usually an issue here, north of Winterpeg.

Congrats, OP, nice deer, nice gun, and that first pic is a terrific trophy shot. You've even mastered the steely-eyed and stern Dogleg-style squint! :)

:cheers:Congratulations! Nice deer and great rifle.

Can't say I agree with the "cursed rifle" bit, but I have seen a "lucky hat" at work!

It's very nice that you posted photos with the rifle and deer and, also, your hunting load.

Well done!

We are actually only 4 hours from Winnipeg. No shortage of cold weather here. Emo is about 2hrs south of Kenora.
