I'd never fired a shotgun before. Fired a 9mm pistol once a while back. I had an introductory lesson at Uxbridge Shooting Sports - awesome club and a great instructor who managers the club.

I had an absolute blast! Only hit about 4-5 birds out of 25. Sure hope that improves! I expect to be back for more!

Looking forward to writing my PAL exam in Feb and getting my license.

Oh and I wondered what recoil would be like. I shot a Browning Cynergy Sporting that the instructor lent me. He fit the gun to me - has a system to pad the stock up.

Recoil was no issue at all. Pretty sure I will buy a o/u instead of a semi.

I'd say my biggest problem with those unused muscles was that the gun was getting heavy towards the end. Recoil wasn't the problem.

IMHO the semi-auto shotgun is 'best' for both skeet and trap (provided the firearm fits you). Less felt recoil than the O/U makes a difference when you spend the day at the range. Glad to hear you enjoyed skeet; I think it is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.......

It is a wise move to get instruction first time out! Hopefully you will not have to unlearn too many bad habits :)
