This should go in the hunting forum, but I never hang around there and I spent more time here choosing a caliber and rifle for hunting this fall. I ended up with a BSA CF-2 in 6.5x55 and it was perfect for deer. I went out twice before this weekend and got skunked both times. Today it all came right with two deer in one day. This buck is my first deer ever and I will not forget my first season of big game hunting nor getting my first deer. I added a whitetail doe later on in the morning. The buck took two shots, the first hit him in the hindquarters and dropped him, then one in the boilerhouse when he stood up again finished it and he got maybe 5-10 steps before dropping. The doe was a running broadside shot at 85 yards and was a bang flop. All in all, a great day of hunting and an experience I will cherish forever.
