first deer rifle

I first hunted with borrowed rifles a few years. An enfield 303 and then a Sav. 99 in .300 sav. With it I shot my first big game, a bull moose. The first rifle I bought was a Rem. 600 in .308. I didn't like it much and sold it off when I got a Win. 70 in .264 win mag. Which I used for many years for many game kills. A couple years ago I bought myself a Sav. 99 in .300 sav. and have used it mostly for the last couple years.

Nope, a Ruger .300 WM. Gift from dad when I joined the military and came out West. He was always a little worried about me running into grizzlies...

Got the rifle when I was 21, still got it and am nearly 47, Dang where did all the time go?????

Remington 700 i got for my 20th birthday in 30-06. Put a scope on it and haven't had a chance to take it out yet, though.
I am still 20. :D

Yes, my first deer went down with an K98 Israeli 7.62 in original configuration. It was a long time ago now, I'm well over 40 now. Most of my rifles now are custom mausers built on milsurps.

Yes. I got my first rifle in 2000, a No4Mk2, so it was well over 40 when I got it. Actually it is a relatively young No4 (ROF Faz 10/55), and I was a relatively old beginner in deer hunting at age 39.

First rifles I *used* were loaners from my Dad. A 99 Savage in 308 or a Remmy 600 in 350 mag when he was feeling generous, but usually a 303 jungle carbine ;) (which I still have).

First centrfire rifle that was 'all mine' was a Husqvarna crown grade in 30-06 that was left to me when my grandpa passed on in ~ 1983. I definitely still got that one too  I'm 46
