Thanks for the advice everyone! My 303 performed exactly as advertised and being open-sited was actually a plus! 50 yards and running cross ways would have been tough to track @ 9x lol. I went out with only about 2 hrs of daylight and got decent buck (about 100-110 my much more experienced hunting partner figured) with 10 min before the sun hit the horizon. I had a great time, got some good looking meat and my fingers will probably even have the feeling back by tomorrow lol. I'm hooked

It's fun isn't it? I'm only on deer ~10 with 6 or 7 of them being bucks and some of them being nice 2-3 pointers.. Guys in Sask get monsters and here... there's like 8 of them to go around.. they are there though.. just have to get better.

For me it's being out and bringing home food. I love hunting.

I shouldn't even say this, but 99% of this guy is going to my dog. Nothing against wild meat, but my dog dang near eats us out of house and home! I did keep a back strap to try though. Maybe next year I'll plan better and make room in the freezer for sausage.

Learn how to process it and have food for the dog and you. Our old dog had to be put down, but when she was alive we kept the heart, liver and put all the trimmings from the ribs that I didn't want in my sausage into the dog food. We then boiled it all up with rice, oatmeal and some vegatables. We put in in sour cream sized tubs and froze it. It was not her only food but it sure streached things.
