First ever deer down today. Now 2 down. 1st post updated with pics.

Well done.

A sharp knife can really derail a gutting job in a hurry, huh? Have you been on line looking for a mesh/kevlar glove yet? And dragging a dead deer by yourself, talk about 'no fun'. Been there, done both.

Yup, poked it into my thumb before it even touched fur. Changed glove and got out gut hook, got my index finger in the way trying to get it into the hole i had cut........changed glove again and finished it off.

Still good fun though, I could think of worse things I could have been doing. :)

I always carry a sled of some sort in my vehicle. It can change a very tiring/grueling situation into relatively easy walk.

Congrats on the deer.

Congrats on the deer.

My first was a young buck about the same size that Ill never forget and still the best tasting, even after all these years.

Great story... I was surprized to hear about the flinching from a professional shooter.. Best of luck!... :)

Surprised the hell out of me as well......something to work on in the future.

Prone shooting and off hand shooting are 2 different beasts.

And I am by no means a "professional shooter"......"addicted enthusiast" perhaps.....but not professional. :D
