Well I did it! I went and bought a Lyman Great Plains Rifle in a 50 cal flintlock from WSS. Only downfall is I want to go fire some rounds but its -20 lol. Yes I am becoming an addict to BP. Having two 50cal makes powder and balls for both easy. I now want to get some flinter pistols but hear conflicting rules. A sales rep told me that flintlock pistols dont require a RPAL. I am sure they are restricted. Either way I have to get my RPAL.

Antique flintlock's (rifle or pistol) don't require registration or an RPAL.
Repro flintlock pistols with barrels over 4" must be registered, and you must have an RPAL. It is considered a restricted firearm so all rules and regs apply.
A repro flintlock with a barrel under 4" is prohibited.
So your salesman needs to make himself a little clearer than making a blanket statement like that. He either doesn't know the rules, or was misleading you (probably unintentionally).

Soon your going to need a military smoothbore, then a few custom ones...Black powder flintlocks are quite addictive.
SMALL BALLS THICK PATCH-TONS OF CLEANING AND PRACTICE
When you think its clean, take it apart and clean it twice more.
You will get tons of joy from the rifle, if you stick to rifles or go the way of the smoothbore or do some of each...Theres few things in life that can bring more pleasure!
And just so you know modern made pistols are restricted status and need the rpal, no matter what ignition system they are
