First Flintlock.....traditions hawken

I asked this question on a forum, about getting a traditions.

Every post was about how crappy they were, and how if I bought one it would never reliably spark and if it did spark, it wouldn't fire.

I was told I had to buy a flinter worth at least a grand to get a functional weapon.

I ignored the advice and got a tradtions hawken with double set triggers.

It's a fine peice, well made, and shoots accurate, nice wood, and it has the finest trigger I've got in my collection, once the trigger is "set".

It's got absolutely no creep and trigger pull is a few scant ounces.

It's lover-ly.

AND it's got a lifetime warranty!

MY .50 cal "BELL" import kentucky flinter(traditions with a different importers name) now works fine. thanks to the experts on this site. good english flints. fffg,instead of 4f in the pan and a bored out (to .060 )touch holewith a TAPER ( Cone) and mine works great. once i got the projectile/ patch size correct, and don't COMPRESS the powder charge too tight when seating the BALL. i find if i OPEN the main charge with a tooth pick,thru the touch hole, it fires every time. ENJOY A FINE FLINTER CHEERS POPS

Nothing wrong with a Traditions, or their BELL counterparts. I've owned a BELL Shenandoah percussion for years, and it has NEVER failed to fire or let me down.
My latest flinter is a Lyman Great Plains. I am absolutely in love with this gun, and just purchased a good supply of English Flints from Track of the Wolf for it.

CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT "BELL-RIFLES" ?????? where made, who imports them. i have not been able to find ANYTHING at all about them. THANK-YOU GLENN
