First Glock, 19x or 17 Gen 5??

I have the Gen 5 G17 and the 19x. I have put more than a thousand rounds through my 19x and love it. No stoppages. Comfortable gun and definitely looks good in coyote. I am actually selling my G17. While I like it and have no real complaints, it is not much of an improvement on the Gen 4. I'd rather keep my tricked out Gen 4 than reinvest in my Gen 5.

If I were a new buyer and could only buy one, I'd have the 19x. If I were to buy two, then I'd consider the 17 as well. You won't be disappointed in the 19x or the 17, but I'd recommend the 19x.
 
Enjoyed reading this thread! Was looking to add another Glock and now just may. I only have the 19 Gen 4 Canadian version. Wanted to add a larger framed version. The look of the new 17 Gen 5 MOS is really growing on me with the front serrations and half moon cutout removed. To the OP I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the choices.
 
i have a Gen3 17C and i found it a little big and uncomfortable in my hands, but the damn thing is a tank and runs like a top.
i then picked up a Gen4 19TB thinking that id prefer the smaller frame size and i do, but those damn finger grooves and non ambidextrous controls just drive me nuts.

so when the 19x came out i picked one up.
its perfect.
for me it is and im not sure why but im scary accurate with it.
and im a S&W M&P fanboy and im saying i love the 19x!!!!

id be interested to try the G45 when it gets up here.
i think i would maybe sell off my 17C and my 19TB then as well.
(no i wouldn't, who am i kidding im a hoarder)

while true your making it sound worse than it is.
the only mag's the 19x does not accept are the Gen5 ones and i have yet to even see any for sale.
the other 8 million Glock mag's for sale in the world will work just fine in it.
and like you said, there are some easy fixes for the mag issue if you find you just have to run Gen5 mag's.

in all honesty i have i think 25 glock mags from gen3 and 4 and from a couple different brands and they all run flawlessly in my 19x.

 
I am not a Glock guy whatsoever as I think they are the most unergonomic guns ever. That being said, they are about as close to all-around perfection in a hangun of that type. The G19x is a real looker though as far as butt-ugly Glocks go.

Will do but i do plan to buy a glock too. Can't tell which one i like best unless i get to hold a glock

With everyone input i really think of grabbing a G17.5 MOS. Irungun seems like a pretty sweet deal and i might got it before christmas. Thanks for everyone input its been a great source of information
