First gun for sporting clays

I always found guys to be pretty good at the END of the day to try their stuff, as long as you just go out and put a handful through it while they are watching.

Don't even ask to before or during a shoot.

Ah okay, thanks for the tip

Depending on the range and the guys shooting you should be able to try a couple out. I contacted one of the ones running the shoot at my local range about showing up and just watching the first time. He told me to bring some ammo and what type to bring. I ended up shooting 4 rounds with 3 different shotguns. A geurini, browning cx and a berretta 692. Ive even had a chance to handle a Kreighoff. I ended up buying a 682 Gold E trap combo off a member here on CGN.

Ah okay, that’s brilliant! Not sure any of my club members even know that a Guerini is haha. How’s the trap model? There’s one in Vancouver but it’s fix choke and I heard they’ll shoot high

I like it so far. As far as i know most trap models shoot high by design. Mines a 34" single upper and a 32" over under with interchangeable chokes. It may not be ideal for me as a left handed shooter but i put a adjustable butt plate on it and it seems comfortable to shoot. I got to get out more though.

Ah that’s great, the combos go a pretty penny from what I’ve seen.

Spank: if you add a K gun instead of another P gun, you can be an international snooty elitist !!! (I'm a closet elitist; I've always wanted a Perazzi but never found one that fit me. When Covid is all done, another trip to Italy may be in order).

Maybe we can start a snooty elitist club? Our crest can be a pair of eyes staring down a nose overlaid over overlaying capital P's and K's ThkThk

Nothing like going to a club or shoot having someone shove their ____ or ____ budget minded Turkish junk or what ever in my face wanting my approval for some reason or another. Being polite saying oh ya well if it works or oh that’s really nice I find they then switch to well you know it really isn’t that nice or it’s just a cheap gun.

It's the same in most hobbies and sports, there are those who only appreciate the uber expensive and those who will get angry when you don't like their cheaper option. I've learned to appreciate that they are part of the hobby or sport rather than judging or comparing their equipment to mine etc. At the end of the day, it is what makes us happy and puts a smile on our faces :), reason why I appreciate the slightly more expensive options. I know they won't make me a pro but I appreciate the craftmentship, history, and long term longevity.

I shoot my brother's Citori 525? very well. His Perazzi, not as well. It's got to fit you, end of story. Then you just think about breaking the clay, it will happen.

Yes thats the main thing I've stressing. Most shotguns are to low for me to an adjustable comb is must for me. On my benelli Vinci SuperSport the drop at the heel is 50mm and I use a come raiser that evens out the comb to about 35mm x 35mm x 50mm.

682 Gold E's were only $4,400 when they were new, I know that because I had several of them over the course of a few years. I also had a 692 which I paid less than that for!
Some of the early 692's had problems but I wouldn't hesitate to own another one if it was the right price. Regarding the 682 Gold E's, you can't go wrong with one if you find a better deal than $4400. The going rate for them around here is $3k give or take some but you'll have trouble finding one that hasn't been shot a bit. A properly cleaned and lubed 682 with run well over 100 thousand rounds before rebuilding, I know of several that have!

Thanks for your reply, I’ve considered the 690 or 692 with the b-fast stock but many say they aren’t a good as the 682 gold e. There are a couple 690’s on the EE forum which I’m looking at but the proven track record of the 682 quite appealing. I’ll keep holding out till I can find one for a decent price of this seller comes down in price XD
