First Gun Purchase

My wife and I, new to the sport, are looking at two pistols as our "starters". For me it would be the Ruger 22/45 and for her the S&W 22A.

Anybody have any experience with these, positive or negative?

Any thoughts on the suitability of these as first gun purchases?

Hi there,

Welcome to the group. I have ordered the S&W, looking forward to getting it. I used one while in Texas at the range. Nice gun. I am also going to get a Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm, and pick up a .22LR conversion kit.

I own a Ruger Mark III Target and it's probably the best value to be had in the .22 pistol segment. It's cheap, reliable, and very durable. I'm not sure why people like the 22/45 version but whatever floats your boat.
