First Handgun. 9mm?

My first gun was a 9mm glock.

I bought a .22 after my first trip to the range.

Love the glock but if I were to spend an hour shooting it everytime I go to the club I'd be poor in no time.

If you can only own one then get a .22 If you can own two then get a .22 and something that makes a big bang.

Love my Glock so much I'll probably do the Advantage Arms .22LR conversion to it before I'd buy a whole other gun chambered for .22LR rounds. The conversion kit itself will cost you as much as most .22LR pistons, but I dig the interchangability.

I've got a Ruger SR9 on my wish list too. Guess we'll have to see who wins the coin toss. :D

Someone please tell me if i have this wrong but I was told by my restricted firearms course teacher that three of the 9mm ammo is the same... The 9X19, 9mm Para, and 9 mm Luger. He said they were all interchangable... and then I know of one or two other 9mm ammo's but cant recall their name.

But I am also guilty of buying thousands of rounds ahead of time due to great deals, not preplanning... It makes sense if you are buying at half price to get a $hitload... right?

9x18
9x19
9x17
9x21, 9x23...

Those are 9mm chamberings that come to mind.

1) .22 semi or revolver.
2) 9mm semi or .357 revolver, but practice with 38spl there cheap.
3) When your better at shooting 40S&W,45ACP,44mag,454 casuall,460 & 500S&W. The 44mag,454 casuall,460 & 500S&W will cost you about $1.25 per round & more if you buy factory ammo. Cost is about 1/4 the price of factory if you do deside to reload your own ammo one day. I like SIG's, CZ's & most 1911 in 45ACP platforms in semi's. Smith & Wesson, Colt's in revolvers. When purchasing a firearm grip placement for me is # 1 it must fit like a glove, an extension of your hand. I like CZ's alot for price & workmanship quality. Currently own 4 CZ handguns. A CZ 85 combat in 9mm, a CZ 75 in 40 S&W, a CZ 75 SP01 in 9mm & a CZ 75 SP01 tactical 9mm also. In the end get a firearm that meets your budget, it's your money after all.

my first and only pistol was a Smith And Wesson M&P in 9mm havent regretted it at all i reload my ammo with cast lead tho which lowers the cost even further than buying in bulk....especially when you buy relaoding suppies in "bulk"

I've had 2x.22 pistols over the last, oh, what, 18 years? One, a single six, I just GAVE away to a fellow CGN earlier this year because he had no restricteds to his name. The other, a slab-side Ruger I bought when they first came out in, when, 1993? It sits in the safe and I haven't even fired it for at least 14 years. Why? The novelty of shooting a 22 wears off pretty fast. You,re not saving money if you buy something you tire of quickly and then buy something that's more fun.

Realistically, a box of 9mm will cost you not much more than a pack of smokes.

I think I'm still leaning towards a 9mm. I looked at the Glock 17, XD9 and S&W M&P9. I found the M&P felt best in my hand and so far it's top contender. I went to Target Sports last week and shot some rounds with the G17 and XD9 but the M&P9 which I was really hoping to try out was in for repair.
I'm still going to wait til I can get some rounds down range with the M&P.
Thanks again guys for the info.
