First Handgun, Advice?

Started strong but fizzled quick.
M&P QC problems? What, the little locking block mark that doesn't affect performance in any way?
Glock mags not standing up? To what?

I thought the lol was a dead give away that I was joking. I guess some people take it personally, oh well!

I'll get there some day too, hopefully...

Note I said my info on the M&P was second hand info.
And as for the glock mags, that would be my attempt at humour. Noting that most pistol mags stand up on there own while the glocks do not. Just a joke my friends and I share. Nothing serious.

No problem at all, we all are sharing the same hobby.
Some of us are just less educated on the internet "lols" and that would be my case :wave:

No worries...I'm a little pissant anyways or that's what my 62 year old co-worker tells me! :p

My advice...

1- Get the gun that "talk to you". It can be the most awesome technological engineering marvel of the world, if you dont like the way it looks, you wont like shooting it.

2A- For 1 first gun, get a reliable one. In 9mm, my top 3 reliable handguns are the Glock 17, M&P9, CZ75 and Sig P226. Some people have different opinions on the matter but those 4 are on top more often then any other out there.

2B- Get good ammo. Nothing sucks more then first few times you are out to the range, trying to not forget anything because of the safety nazi in the next booth or something and then on top of that you are struggling with FTE, FTF and such because of bad ammo or unreliable gun.

3- Get out there and ask questions, see that the guys at your club are shooting and if you ask nicely, they may even let you shoot a few rounds with their nice toys so you can try it.
 
My first hand gun was a Ruger MK 2 .22 lots of fun CHEAP to shoot and not bad to field strip and clean. That said take your time and try as many as possible make sure it fits YOU. This is the advice we give ALL new shooters to our club. Your second thought will be cost a .22 can be shot all day for cheap and there are good second hand guns out there as well. Anyone selling you a used gun will let you try it first shoot it see how it feels. Have fun good luck and enjoy!
