I hope to purchase one (wife allowing!) with my favorable tax return.

I am looking at a two-tone stainless, silver slide, and all blued.

I have handled an all blue p226 and absolutely love the feel, but having never seen a two-tone in person I am not sure if it really "looks" Sig. Pictures don't convey how it will feel in your hands.

What are your opinions of how the two-tone looks in person, verses the blued. Practical knowledge only please!

Like this???

P&D had two when we bought it just weeks ago... may still have another

The one I'm looking at is accented with stainless trigger, de-cocker, hammer, slidelock, take down lever, and mag release... at least from the pictures I was sent! :D

I feel in love with the p226 in all blued, so I guess I'm nervous the two-tone might not capture my heart as strongly...

I think you confusing "blued" with the "Nitron" finish on Sigs.

Most (not all) non-stainless Sig's come with a black "Nitron" finish which is actually quite good. I've had one for about a year now and have yet to scratch it, unlike most things I own that are blued.

That is very possible.

Skip the Sig and buy a Glock 17. Way less money and just as good. [isn't that a can of worms?]
With the tons of cash you save with the Glock, you can buy a Dillon reloading machine and shoot 9mm very reasonably.

Yeah, but your getting a mushy trigger and a gun that can easily limp wrist.

Buy the sig and don't look back. :dancingbanana:

If the sig fits your hand, buy it. The two tones are very nice, although my heart really goes for the all stainless. I have a 226ST, 229Elite and 220R in black.

I've got an older-style two tone P226, with no rail, nickel plated stainless slide, and nickel plated controls. I prefer it to the black Nitron version (as others pointed out, Sig no longer offers guns with blued finish) for two reasons: 1) aesthetics and 2) wear characteristics - Nitron finish is quite hard and wears out the alloy frame faster than nickel plated or plain stainless slides do.

"Nitron finish is quite hard and wears out the alloy frame faster than nickel plated or plain stainless slides do." So...... It's a hard finish that wears out the frame. As a Sig Certified Armourer I had never heard that but it must be true, it's on the internet!

As a "certified sig armorer" you must surely be the top authority on all things Sig. After all, you've read the sig armorer's manual, and if there was ever an issue with the Nitron finish, it would no doubt be mentioned there .

If you don't understand how a harder than steel, Diamond Like Carbide finish can cause increased frame wear, you need to put down the armorer's manual and pick up a high school physics textbook.

The following is not a personal trash against you, it is simply my opinion of Glocks.

Glocks, by far are the ugliest firearm ever conceived. I hate to look at them. Because someone insisted, I handled a glock. I did not like the balance or feel of it at all.

The first handgun I purchase is going to be a Sig P226 in 9mm. I will never ever purchase a Glock, but I know better than to look a gift horse in the mouth if you happen to be giving one away.
