What a great feeling! I have been reloading shotgun for many years, but, was always nervous about reloading metallic cartridge on my own. I started today, with 44 magnum, using a Lee Loader. Slow but sure. Sellier and Bellot large pistol primers, 7.9 Grains of Green Dot pushing a 240 grain Canpro jacketed bullet. I am hitting my 8 inch gong, almost, every time at 25 yards.Nice little kick, low flash and little smoke. What a great feeling. Many thanks to many people here for their great advice.

I will probably load 38/ 357 eventually, but, I lucked out and got a great deal on reloads and have about 3000 rounds. For now, I only plan on reloading the more expensive stuff. I can't believe how over priced 44 mag and 45 acp is!!! I hope I can get my 1911 to eat as well as my Model 29.

If you plan on reloading a lot you might want to check for a press, even if only a small one. You'll go much faster than with a lee loader.

3 for 1 is definitely worth it! I bought a Lee hand press and 45 acp dies. I better start looking for some 38/357. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible. Can anyone recommend a good powder that is easy to use and can load a variety of handgun? I am not looking for full power loads. Just something that will cycle a 1911 and work well in my 357 and 44 mag wheel guns.

Tightgroup. Works from 9mm to 44magnum. One of the least expensive and most efficient powder. If you want to add just one more, then add H110 (or win296, it's the same powder) for powerful 357 and 44magnum loads. Both are widely available everywhere components are sold.

Go to reloading manuals, Lee is my fav. Loads are for many powder brands and bullet brands, also for lead bullets. For .44mag I used IMR4227 19.5-23.5gr under 240gr jacketed and cast lead.
