picked up my first one today.nothing great.a norinco 1911 a1x commander.i had to drop an extra 65 bucks on top of the price for the gun.new case because the norico case was too small for the trigger lock,so i bought a double gun case,20 bucks for the locks because i left mine in my truck and was too lazy to walk all the way back to get them, and when i saw the firebird exploding targets for clays we were talking about on another post,i had no choice but to buy them. i almost bought new grips, but stopped myself in time.i think it would have been cheaper if i'd had it shipped the 3 km's my house.i still have about $400 so far stashed in my mattress towards a saa 45 lc,but i saw a full size girsan for sale at a good price that's got me doing a little rethink.there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that this will become an obsession.i think i'm going to stick to imports and previously enjoyed firearms to keep it under control.

Congrats on the new gun, if you are going to get a SAA in 45 Colt you should get some reloading gear as 45 Colt was about $1/round last time I bought some.
45ACP and 45Colt are very easy to reload and if you take it a step further and cast your own bullets you can shoot 45 for about the same as 22.

Oh dear: it begins

;)

Used is a good way to go at your stage. You can buy, try, and sell what you don't like without taking a bath on it.

You've got good taste, looking at a 45 Colt. I would suggest a .22 though. I have a Lipseys Ruger Single Ten and its both an excellent shooter and a good intro into single actions. The Ruger .22 revolvers are often available second hand

good choice!! a good gun good price! you will have lots of fun. the biggest mistake people make is getting an expensive gun they don't like after or buy some junker just because its cheap.

I've had 8 handguns,2 AR 15, 4 NR black rifles. All in the last year. My three keepers are uberti El Patron .45 LC. S&W .357 Talo 686. And my colt gold up .22. My point being , it's not easy to know what you like until you try em. I've lost some cash from buying new.

Nothing with a Norc Commander for a first choice. Congrats.
