Well the wife and I received our LATT's on Thursday, so we went up to the Chilliwack range yesterday for our first time as new handgun owners. It was a stellar day, not a cloud in the sky, couldn't have had a nicer day to enter the world of handguns 
We set our targets at about 15 feet, and the fun began. We were trying to keep it as basic as possible, as neither of us has any real experience with handgun shooting, we have only ever shot handguns twice before this, and honestly, I think the adrenalin takes over when you are shooting someone else's gun for the first time, and you don't really think,lol.
Taking my time, and trying to slow down and think, I put 100 rounds thru my FNS9 over about a three hour period, had a few nice groups and even hit the bullseye a couple of times( I know, only 15 ft, but I was impressed with myself ) , really enjoyed the experience even though I really have no idea of proper technique, etc.
The wife put a couple of hundred rounds thru her GSG 1911-22, and loved it, she had a great time, fell in love with her new handgun, and can't wait to go back, she shot some really nice groups also, which was nice to see as it made her even more excited to try it again. She had a couple of offers to try other peoples guns also while we were there, but I guess that's what happens when a hot ass lady shooting a pink handgun shows up at the range hahaha.
If anyone knows of a handgun instructor in the Fraser Valley who does private lessons or small class lessons, please let me know, as we would love to learn and improve our skills with a good teacher.
Overall, I have to say it was a great first day, we both love our new handguns, and look forward to getting back out, learning and improving.
