Hey,

I just got my first holographic sight, a Bushnell Holosight. I tried an eotech at the range before and I can't remember how clear the dot and ring are supposed to be but the HOLOsight is a blurry big circle when I look at it and then if I focus my eye the ring and the dot become a little more apparent. Any comments on what I'm doing wrong? Model 51-0023, if that helps.

Adjust the brightness and look through the site while outside. Also when using the holo sights you're supposed to look at the target and put the red dot on it. Rather than looking at the dot and putting it on the target. I recommend using both eyes as well.

Thanks for the advice, Epoxy. I tried that advice and it worked for the most part. I have difficulty using both eyes though.

Now for getting it sighted and zeroed. I have never done this before. My rifle is a cz858 and I am using the scout scope mount. I notice an increasing gap between the rail and the scope mount from front to back. i.e. the gap is bigger underneath the front of the rail than the back. Is that normal? Also should I adjust the mount by positioning it up or down until I am zeroed at 50yrds? It says not to use the windage/elevation dials for major adjustments in the manual.

You have astigmatism. I almost sent mine back when I bought it, then I noticed that the circle is clear with one eye, and it is a blurry oval thing with a comma in the middle with the other eye.

Every one in the business know that Bushnell holosight in not very succesfull.
( Piece of junk ) for $100 more you can buy an Eotech model 512.

Here they are selling the Bushnell for $399 and the Eotech 512 for $519.

Bring it back and switch.

That's funny because the Bushnell Holosight is built by EoTech the difference is the protective sight hood and the button's

I don't know where you get your information that Eotech built those Holosisght for Bushnell.

That is how rumors start.

Really well I guess you can look up the patent numbers then and get back to us.
There are to many similarities in the overall design and technology to say other wise .It is Bushnell that owns and holds the Patent rights and Eo Tech is building under license from Bushnell one or the other . But I will stand by what I have stand that the Bushnell Holosight as pictured here

I have used the Eotech and have seen the Bushnell's; they are almost identical.

My Eotech's have always been a little fuzzy unless I lower the brightness and focus on the target.

Did you get this a Lebaron? - I'm thinking about getting one but am way out west. What location has them?

I tried a Bushnell out at Gander Mountain in the states and found the same thing, it was blurry like looking at a star. On the other hand, that's the way a lot of bright objects appear to my eyes, like headlights at night. While this bothers me a bit, it might not make a hill of beans difference in actual use.

I got mine at Lebaron for $249.00

Same here. I am out west too. They recieved the order and shipped within 4 business days.

The sight is not blurry when using one eye, lowering brightness, and focusing on the target. Two eyes = a problem for me. I might have eye problems as suggested. I don't wear glasses either. Last check I was 20/20 but that was years ago.

Anyone have any suggestions for my mount and zeroeing procedure for the scout scope mount on the CZ858?

Ya meet me @ poco on sunday and I have the exact same scope & rifle. I will show you how 50 meters & 200 meters are the exact same sight with these rifles.

It would be great to meet up, but what about Mission Club? I had arrangements to be there on Sunday.

If you are willing to dig into old gun rags, you will find that the Bushnell holosight was first on the scene. Then there was a war, then there was EO Tech, then we have a ruggedized holosight.

Common problem with red dots is if you have the dot too bright, they will seem to star. Make the dot dimmer and it should improve. Of course, if you need a change in your glasses, that'll affect your results too.

I used to have an EOTech and ditched it. If you wear glasses something changes and the reticle gets really grainy / unclear. I have not used an Aimpoint but would suspect a similar outcome.

Maybe how it is projected onto the glass? Who knows....
