First hunt for No1-A 303 British?

Unlike most 30-06 bolt guns, this one is special.
A 1in500 this one has scroll engraving with gold inlays on both sides of the action. Real nice wood and special checkering.

Most likely I never take it hunting, since I got others to choose from. A 9.3x74 #1 begs to go hunting.

I ever had only two 30-06 rifles and they are long gone. I thought this centenial model #1 would make a nice addition to my modest #1 collection.
This 30-06 really struck my fancy.

Later I may find a #1 in 303 that I may like when the hype is over.

well it showed up too late, 3 days before I leave on my hunt. Busy getting packed, and prior commitments have kept me from the range the past two nights to develop and practice with a hunting handload. I've shot it 16 times, +1" high @ 100M with 180gr Silvertips. I'd like to get a bit more comfortable with it and shoot out to 250 yards from field positions before taking it out. So no maiden voyage for elk with the 303!!! Not yet, maybe next week locally!!!

Hi,

I'm kinda new here. I have two old 303 britss. Both sporterized. One is a
P14 and the other is a No.1 Mk 3. What the heck is a No.1-A?????

Also, I will be taking my No. 1 up for a backup gun for moose this fall. Any suggestions as to what factory ammo I should get for it?

finally got mine dialed in with 150gr TSX (2730 fps) out to 200 meters. Went out for an evening elk hunt, had no action but did get a nice ruffie with the No1-A! :) TSX performed well LOL

Beauty rifle to pack through the bush. Handles well and is nice and short.
