First hunting rifle recommendations

As the title says. This will be my first crack at hunting this fall. Wondering about a good budget setup in preferably in 30-06 that won't break the bank. Any recommendations ?

Weatherby Vanguard S2

Solid, accurate rifles with a nice 3 position safety that are available in a number of different stocks. If you can track one down in your location try handling it and see how it comes up to your shoulder and if you like how it handles. I have a .308 with the Griptonite stock and it is a great rifle.

Any decent bolt action will serve well, Tikka T3, Browning X-Bolt, Rem 700, Ruger 77, Win 70 etc... stay away from the Mossbergs and Savage Axis rifles... buy a little better quality and take care of it.

What are you hunting and where, and what is your budget?

Any decent bolt action will serve well, Tikka T3, Browning X-Bolt, Rem 700, Ruger 77, Win 70 etc... stay away from the Mossbergs and Savage Axis rifles... buy a little better quality and take care of it.

You have a lot of buying options at 30-06 as its becoming a less and less popular calibre for joe public due to ammo cost.

Id say you should be abke to keep it under $400 easily...likely 300-350 range or cheaper.

Apply for EE access and search the forum for an interesting option.

Mostly be hunting white tails and mule deer in the okanagan/shuswap

Do yourself a favour and beg, borrow or steal a gun to shoot/hunt and save for a gun you will be happy to carry in the field for the next 20 years. You still need to pick a quality scope on your rifle so the expense isn’t limited to the cost of the gun.

Weatherby Vanguard S2 or Tikka T3x in your desire caliber, the tikka will be a bit lighter and has a removable magazine and the Vanguard can be had with either floor plate or removable mag, both will be accurate, both have Stainless options,

keep your eye out on CGN for great deals, other ones to look for Bergara B14, Winchester 70 Controlled Round Feed action, extreme weather model is all stainless.

Take opinions on here with a grain of salt, the vast maj of what is recommended on this forum isn't everyone's cup of tea. I like buttery smooth actions, set triggers, etc. Must be the Canadian in me
