After hearing all the Bushnell bashing on this forum I decided to buy my first Leupold 2.5x8 -36mm VX-III. The main consideration for buying this was weight. It is considerably lighter than anything in the Bushnell 4200 series. Warranty was secondary. The only thing that p***es me off is $600 for a scope and they don"t even include lense caps. What gives??

Good choice in scopes! Lense caps, what are they :p

I never use lense caps, once I did and found them to be a PITA. If you need caps, buy some Butler Creek flip up caps. I dont like em, but lots do...

I tought same thing when I received my vx-III target. My cheapo Tasco came with screwing type lens cover and my Leupold with nothing :(
 
Haven't had a chance to sight it in yet. It seems to be very bright and sharp. I will give a range report as soon as I can get out.
 
I have one of these and believe it's the best general purpose hunting scope that Leupold makes. Although I'm not one of the Bushnell bashers as I have an older Elite 4000 1.5-6x on a .270 and think it optically equal to the Leupold although it is larger and heavier.
