I'm recently on a rifle/shotgun spending splurge...I got my shotguns, and a rifle I wanted. I now want one last rifle...for now of course....:D

Have always liked the classic look and bush gun quality of levers..mainly marlins 336...I am a big fan of blued/walnut, but I just came across the 336SS on their website...And I really like...The stainless look in these guns..in my opinion..is great..

Anybody know what the canadian price would be for one of those New?

Any comments and opinions on levers in general as well as the one mentioned would be greatly appreciated...as well if anybody out there has a few pics of the above..

I got mine for $807 minus 10% Lebaron member discount plus tax.
I love it. I put glass on her and shoots pretty good. Looks and handles fantastic. You won't be dissappointed.

If you're actually going to hunt with it then the Marlin lets you add on a low power scope easily. Gotta like that if your eyes ain't what they used to be. But either way the lever guns are a hoot to shoot. This isn't a big deal over a bolt action if you're hunting since at that point it's a tool. But for giggles at the range or out plinking it soon becomes more important.

I only got started on rifles but the levers are just great fun to shoot. Hint, if you can wear a light leather glove on the trigger hand so the lever doesn't bite in so much. Or wrap the lower section of the lever loop with leather lacing.

For pure plinking fun a Win 94 or a clone such as the Rossi/Puma in .357 or .44 will be a little cheaper to feed. Especially if you re-load. But then for close in plinking fun a .22 lever would be even cheaper.

I have a Marlin 336 with and old original barrel on it that was for the model '93, chambered in .32-40. I love it! I just put a little 4x scope on it temporarily to develop loads, and then the peep sight goes back on. They are neat little guns, very fun.

You don't give up a lot in accuracy with lever rifles regardless of what bolt afficianados claim. True, you won't see many half-MOA levers, but a scoped Marlin .30-30 that will shoot 5-shot groups to 1.5 MOA or better won't raise eyebrows among lever users. My best groups with my 336A were right around an inch for three shots, occasionally better. And levers are fun to shoot, and since I was raised using a Win 94, reaching for an exposed hammer when the game is in sight is a natural movement.
The 336SS is pretty. The laminated/stainless will get you another 100 fps velocity, but is heavier and longer by 4 inches.
