First Look: Blue Line Pump Shotgun

My brand new Blue Line Pump (870 Clone) arrived today ... and I just finished taking her apart and cleaning her, and installed an oversize safety.

I have to say I am impressed .... fit and finish is good ... better then some 870s that I have seen.

All parts should be interchangeable with 870 parts with the exception of the barrel.

For the money .... an incredible value.

Many dealers have the Blue Line Pump in stock right now.

And yes, stamped ... Hawk Industries!

I bought one of these guns just recently even though I was skeptical about it. Turns out, my worries were totally unfounded. This thing is extremely well built, in fact it reminds me of my old Wingmaster (which I foolishly sold 3 years ago). The action is smooth, the trigger is on par and even the furniture is good in that the length of pull is shorter (about 12.75"" vs the 14" standard on a Rem 870) which makes it feel much more comfortable for people of smaller stature (like my wife) when shouldered.

Accuracy wise, its a shotgun with an 18" cylinder barrel....lol. My only gripe is that the magazine tube is indented so you can't add a +2 mag extension, but this is easily fixed by ordering a swaging tool from Brownells.

All in all, for the price and what you get, I highly recommend it! In fact, I liked it so much I bought another one last week. :shotgun:

My .02 YMMV

This Blue Line job would have to work hard to be worse than my Remington Express riot gun when I first got it. What crap that was.

Yeah, people are too hard on clones.
870 Express quality has declined like mad over the past couple decades.
I have an 870 Express that I can't smooth out no matter what I do. Literally worse than any Chinese/Turkish pump action and I know all the tricks to smooth them out.
Meanwhile my Chinese 870 clones are smooth as butter and better machined.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 870s.. but a lot of the chest-thumping "Made in 'Merica" quality is just riding on the coattails of guns made decades ago. Recent US production guns are garbage quality that are actually being eclipsed by Chinese and Turkish clones.

how are these things holding up?

Those Blue Line pumps are essentially Norinco clones of the 870 .... like the Dominion Arms Grizzly .... or the Norinco PD12 ... Norinco HP9 ... or the H&R Parder Pump .... etc. ...

(I would not be surprised if they all come out of the same factory)

They are "tanks" that are hard to destroy! On mine the action is smoothening with use .... it is close now to what my older 870 Police feels like when cycling.

No mechanical issues so far whatsoever ....

These ones are the 5+1 with the extended mag tube. So the same as the Norinco YJ12. The HP9 and DA Grizzley were more true to the 870 with the 4+1 mag tube. If it is just indeed a Norinco YJ12 (it most likely is) then it will take most 870 parts except the barrel. The Norinco 870 clones are solid and a better option then the 870 express's that were around a few years ago. At $300ish its a steal.
If they bring in the 12.5" I would be all over it.
