First M305 - Regular or Shorty?

I'm THIS close to picking up one of the CanAm deals on the M305 but can't decide which length to go for.

I'm interested in being able to stretch it's legs beyond 100m, out as far as I can hit something.

I like the look of the regular length, but loads of people are raving about the shorty. However, there seems to be a bit of an issue with it fitting aftermarket acessories (no, not bayonets).

Eventually I'd like to put a scope on it, so I'm wondering if there's a substantial loss of accuracy with a shorty as the ranges get a bit further out.

Anyone have experiences of both that they can share? And no - I'm not getting one of each............yet ;)
 
I had several shorty(ies) on the firing line at the Petawawa M14 clinic back in April 2012 and all of the owners were tickled pink with glee because they were making body shots on the figure 11 at 500yards. AND with irons sights, I have to add. Several of them were using that goofy colored Norinco ball ammo, too! :eek:

Buy the shorty... you will not regret it!

Or you could buy a 22 inch one and if it tickle you too much have it cut down to 18.5.

Only con I see is having to find a direct connect FH and gas lock with a dove tail.

Shorty's are very nice tought.
 
I'd try to find a good used 2007 Norinco. They had the most durable finish and were probably the most accurate batch. I'm going to be selling mine soon, comes with USGI fibreglass stock, bipod, reinforced see-through mount, USGI flash hider with bayonet mount that actually can work with a bayonet, and tightened up by yours truly :D

Oh yeah and my iron sights work haha

Shoots 1.5 or less now, which isn't bad either

so is it just a coincedence that the best one ever made is yours and you just happen to be selling it? You sound like a used car salesman.

Soooooooooo...................

I did it. Ordered a shorty combo. But then........

Something was just niggling me. I'm not gonna be lugging it around the backwoods all day, it'd likely just be out to one point to shoot, or the range. I really like the look of the original length, and apparently there's less issues fitting it to aftermarket parts, esp stocks.

It's going to be a 'learning' platform too, so I emailed and spoke to CanAm. They've impressed me with their helpfulness and service so far, and happily swapped the shorty deal for the regular length deal :)

There's no danger of my #### falling off, as I already own a 1911 in 45ACP. However, now I have ordered an 'M14', I appear to be growing a second one. Maybe that's the 'add-####-son' I hear about ;)

Can't wait for it to arrive!! Just need to read/print all the stickies in the meantime, and try for a day off to get on one of the Calgary 'clinics'!

Thanks all for the advice - I feel another addiction coming on.
