After reading posts and advice here, I purchased with the help of the forum, a great Colt 6920 MagPul Edition.
It is nothing short of great. I would respectfully ask the forum group to take a moment and help me with attaining the most appropriate optic. The amount of them out there is to complicated for a newbie without help.

As for use, I am interested in 100 yards and less, and quick acquisition. I am right handed be shoot left hard with left eye dominant and right eye about 20/200

Price is always a consideration, but I can afford the right one more than I can afford buying the wrong one 3 times.

Well based on what you want a non night vision EO Tech would be great because it had the 2moa dot with the 65moa ring around it. Makes very quick on target shots. Tough thing these days is finding them.

First off, congrats on buying a beautiful rifle. I think Colt makes the ultimate DI AR15. If I had such a rifle, I think that I would be putting a Trijicon ACOG on that thing. Something tough with enough magnification to really take advantage of the accuracy the rifle is capable of.

100 yards and less with quick acquisition would suggest you'll likely be happiest with a red dot or holographic sight (aimpoint, eotech, etc.). Trijicon ACOGs are really nice, but honestly, they're not 100 m and less optics. They're probably best used as 75-300m optics IMHO.

For speed of acquisition at shorter ranges my vote goes for an Eotech with its circle dot holograph. This is a true both-eyes-open sight with excellent performance. Another option would be an Aimpoint Pro. Be aware that some Eotechs require a riser mount for optimum height with an AR. This will add $100 in cost. The Aimpoint comes with a mount.

While I'm not 100% sure, you might be OK shooting right handed with the Eotech holo. My advice to anyone with less than perfect eyes is to try before you buy.

I, for the most part, exclusively use Eotech and Trijicon. I've used the 512.A65 on AR15s and they're very well suited for 100m or less. The 512.A65s mount is the perfect height to cowitness, althought the newer QD models have a slightly raised base to do a 1/3 cowitness. I have never used an Aimpoint so I cannot comment on them, but they are the Eotechs rival it seems.

I suggest a 1-4x variable scope, if you will be doing a lot of shooting groups at 100 but still want to make quick hits at close range. Burris makes a good mid priced tactical model.
