Hi all,

I just received a first pattern Inglis holster, like the following:

I'm unable to insert my spare magazine in the holster, and I'm wondering if the metal insert may have gotten bent, or if it's supposed to be a spring-tight fit to prevent rattling. Should the insert opening form a rectangle or a trapezoid with the wide end on the rivet side?

Here's a picture of my magazine insert:

Before I start trying to bend it into shape, or scratch up my magazine, I wanted to double-check as I've not handled this type of holster before.

I was also aware that the pistol would be very tight in the holster, but I wasn't expecting to have to push, pull, and stretch so much to get the quick release closed. Is there any advice on loosening up the holster (e.g. stretching the canvas while it's damp), or will that eventually happen over time - or never?

It's definitely looking like the second pattern, double-flap holster, is the way to go! Are those hard to come by these days and what's the typical going rate in Canada?

Thanks!

You insert looks like it's been squeezed.

They were a tight fit from day 1. That was one of the reasons they were replaced in production so soon.

There were at least 2 variations of the "first pattern" HP holster.

One has a flap of webbing over the magazine insert to protect the mag from the gun.

Your magazine insert looks bent and you will have to
make adjustments . Look for a Inglis two flap holster,
easier to use

I was able to bend the insert back out so it's roughly rectangular, but the magazine is still extremely tight fitting --- so much so that when I have it fully inserted, I have to use a plastic prybar to get it started back out. I believe it's the narrow side of the insert, opposing the rivets (where the sheet metal meets itself at a gap) that is bent inwards too much, so I'll need to do some more adjustment.

How firm or loose should the magazine normally be? I imagine "just right" would be that you can pull the magazine out with moderate finger pressure, but that it's not rattling when stored.

Loose full flap holster So you won't loose magazine check how loose
the leather holsters are They are also full flap
