First pistol/carbine combo - whats the best deal?

^This! Save up or do a lay-away like I did. You will not regret it.

Except that little bit more is nearly twice what a Rossi lever or KelTec sub2000 go for, and nearly 3 times what the Hi Point sells for. While I agree I probably wont regret it, I dont feel like spending the next year to pay for a single firearm either.

Revolver / lever gun here too. It's a traditional pairing.

If I were to buy a rifle to go with one of my revolvers it'd be either in 44-40 or 45colt, I'm 90% certain, in either 1873 or 1892 style.

I'd like an actual Carbine, though, rather than the "Short rifle" models out there. I'm talking carbine butt, barrel band, carbine rather than buckhorn sights. I'm not sure if such a thing exists these days.

I did have a JR that I just sold. It really is a long n heavy gun for what it is. I've never heard anything about Rossi worse than "the action is a bit rough" so I think one of them might be on my list.
