First Pistol Decision Made. I Think...Input?

It's tough to decide on a make and model. In Canada, without a lot of buddies who are into the sport, it's difficult to try before you buy. I had a tough time with the three guns I already own, and it has been even more difficult to decide on a pistol, but I think I'm there.

A Glock 22 Gen 4 with a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel.

My reasoning is this...I intend to shoot mostly 9mm, but I also want to shoot some .40. I won't have the funds available to buy a second gun for a while (twins on the way), but affording the LW barrel and a couple of G17 mags isn't unreasonable. If and when I decide to get a 9mm, I can sell the mags and barrel without taking too hard a hit as they are always in demand.

Thoughts?

For many of us the typical range session of perforating paper gets old pretty quickly and we move on into some form of action shooting with the handguns.

On the surface your plan makes perfect sense. It gives you two calibers to enjoy for not much more than the cost of one gun. But I'd plan on looking around and find out if the two setups have a sizeable difference in the point of aim vs point of impact when you swap over to 9mm. If there is a fair degree of shift to where it's shooting higher or lower by something like 4 inches at 15 yards then it makes it difficult to use the gun for accurate shooting at targets or in matches without the need to mentally compensate and aim high or low.

I agree with BCRider. It'll only be a matter of time before punching holes in paper will get old and you'll wanna try some action shooting. 9mm kicks less so you can get back on target quicker and is relatively cheap to shoot. For me, I don't see any reason to shoot .40 on a consistent basis.

9mm is cheap to shoot. 40 is the one of the snappiest calibres to shoot. You might shoot more 9 than 40 because of this. Good start though with the 2 calibres.

Thanks for the input guys.

My thinking regarding the .40 is in a SHTF situation. I'm a practical guy, what can I say? It's part of why my long guns are .22lr, 30-06 and a 12ga. There is and always will be plenty of .40 kicking around because of its use in LE (not that 9mm isn't abundant). If I can only have ONE gun, it makes sense to me that it be a .40 from that perspective. However, I want to be able to shoot it affordably, so the 9mm conversion barrel seems a good choice for me. From all that I've heard and read the LWD conversion is supposed to be incredibly reliable. Most report zero failures in thousands of rounds.

I'm still convinced that this is the correct choice for me.

I've been starting to pick up a couple of accessories...I grabbed a TLR1 light (amazon has them for $108 shipped), some Ameriglo Pro Operator night sights, the LWD threaded conversion barrel and thread protectors (I could only source the threaded barrel for a fair price) and some 10/17 glock 17 mags. Anything else I should look at?
