First pistol suggestions.

Congratulations on the move. What was the pistol going too be for? Occasional range toy , target gun or just something too have for other things.
I'd be all over a Walther steel frame PDP or an entry level 2011 if we could still buy them in Happy socks Kanada.

What do you plan to do with the pistol? CC? Target shooting? Competition?

The use case can help define the gear. For CC, the G19 is a great choice - likely one of the most popular handguns carried.

My advice would be to find a rental range with a good selection of handguns and try the ones that interest you most. Nothing beats shooting them yourself when forming an opinion. In your situation I'd probably lean toward a Sig P365X Macro for general use and a P365X for carry.

I guess I should have specified it's the first pistol in America... I've owned pistols for over 20 years.

If you've owned pistols for 20 years in Canada then you should know what makes/models have worked for you. Not an issue getting those and many more in the US. The world is your oyster there. Any decent gunshop would happily sell you the catalogue.
