Well I finally joined the dark side, I brought my first pistol home yesterday. I choose a walther ppx range kit as my first pistol. The transfer was completed within 24 hours, gotta like that lol. I bought it from saskatoon gun works. Awesome place to deal with

Congrats. Great choice for your first... it's a sickness. Lol
Next thing you know someone will suggest you get an AR :)

The PPX range kit was my first as well. Cheap starter handgun to practice cleaning and shooting. It's light and it's a great learning handgun.

My second was a P226 Legion, so beware the sickness has begun lol. I'm already looking at the Colt 1911 Gov and I want a 686 Revolver lol.

I prefer the PPQ over the PPX (because of the grip bump) but the PPX is a great starter at a great price. Welcome to the addiction... every day im adding a pistol on my "to-buy-list"... and you'll want an Ar-15 too sooner or later... but when you go Ar... it's a money pit... everyone know it, but you'll have one anyway!

Congrats...ppx is a great start...the hump didn't suit me either..so the ppq fit me better..you will love it for sure and really good value..get a bigger safe...you know why..:)

Congrats on your PPX range kit! I purchased mine a month ago for a very good price, slightly used (after 100 rounds). It’s my first pistol with a reinforced polymer frame. So far, I put around 300 rounds through the pipe. I wear L size gloves so my hands are on large side and that strange hump on a grip fits my hands absolutely perfect and grip feels very comfortable. I’ve been still trying to find 9mm ammo the PPX likes. So far, my best score on a 20 yard target is 90/100 with the PMC Bronze ammo. However, I still need more practice because from time to time I get one or even two (horror!) fliers on a 20 yard target. The pistol is not that easy to shoot as I thought it would be. The trigger pull feels lighter than it really is (4.1-5.5 lb) but needs quite a bit of discipline and concentration to make the pull really smooth. A little jerky pull and accuracy goes out of the window. This way or the other, for the price, the PPX range kit is one of the best deals available. I also have the Walther P1 so now it has a much younger brother.

I find the grip fits my hand well. My wife has small hands and it's not comfortable for her. At least I don't have to worry about her shooting it all day lol. It snowed here the last couple of days, I can't do any combining so a range trip is on the agenda lol

This thread just inspired me to sign up to get my RPAL. Nov 22 and 24 at the AHEIA Calgary Conservation Education Centre for Excellence, about 2 blocks away from my house  :dancingbanana:

The PPX with its peculiar hump on the back of the grip is definitely unsuited for people with small hands. However, it's a joy to shoot for people with large hands. The PPX also has a very high bore axis which makes it even worse to shoot for people with small hands. In general, it takes time to get used to the PPX. I've been shooting it for a month or so but still on a learning curve.
So, don't expect great results in no time with the PPX.

Good to know. Iam not expecting any great marksmanship from me. I don't have much experience with any pistol so it will be a big learning curve lol. I waited about 15 years to upgrade to an RPAL. If you get a chance go for it lol
