First Pistol??????????

FWIW, buy something you like and you'll keep it longer and shoot it more often than a gun you've compromised on. What have you shot in the past that you like? Some questions to ask yourself before you buy your handgun. Are you set on a specific calibre and would the cost of ammo be a factor? Would you prefer a revolver or semi? Do you prefer a polymer, alloy or steel frame? Adjustable or fixed sights? New or used? I still have my first handgun, a 686 .357 revolver. I've owned it for over 20 years and I have never regretted buying it which is more than I can say for some of the guns I bought just to 'scratch an itch' I want you have the same satisfaction and pride of ownership when you look back at your first handgun 20 years from now. Remember, the fun is in the hunt.

Ruger P series

I have not seen much about these floating around on here, but ya might look in to a Ruger P series, they are more of a service pistol and they are super reliable. A few months ago I bought myself a Ruger P-89 for my first pistol and I'm loving it.

Seen here with a slip on grip to make the fit a bit better for my hands.
So far all I've managed is about 500 rounds, made up of Winchester, federal, UMC bulk packs and it even took a hundred rounds of home brewed hand loads that I did up for the first time and has not givin me any trouble what so ever.
The cost is was $530 plus taxes for the stainless P-89DC seen in the picture above, others in the P series will more than likely very in price a bit but I don't think by a whole heck of alot.
I wouldn't have any problem buying another one, in fact I'm hoping to, but one in a forty five.

Happy hunting for your first pistol!

My first pistol ... not too long ago lol - is a baby eagle (jericho 941) in .40S&W i love it :) and my 2nd is a Springfield Armory XD-9 - thing is awesome as well :) I was looking between the xd 9 and the M&P and i thought the XD felt better. Next on the list is a 1911 ... maybe STI or Kimber...

Thanks for the offer dinsdale, thats a sweat looking unit. I really like that combo with stainless and black. But I am just west of hamilton. How much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

+1 CZ75B,I went .40S&W,but the 9mm is good and cheeper ammo .
I do wish I'd got'n a two tone though.
With the CZ you can also get a sub cal(.22lr) conversion kit,you can get one for the 1911s too,so cheeper yet to shoot lots and lots.

Also ,Norcs 1911a1s were used for the base of some big name coustom jobs down in the states, when they could get them .

Baby Eagle for my first pistol - i love it great, but I was looking at the M&P vs the Springfield XD-9 and I ended up going with the XD instead, first shot out of box not even ever trying an XD was "bullseye" and had a nice grouping so it is now my favourite pistol :)
